Who we are
The Indoor Cycling Institute (ICI) exists to support good practice in indoor cycling.
We focus on what actually happens in studios and classes, and on the knowledge, skills and judgement instructors need to deliver sessions that are safe, effective and inclusive.
ICI is not built around trends, branding or volume delivery. It is shaped by years of hands-on teaching, instructor education and observation of real-world indoor cycling across a wide range of settings.

Why we exist
Indoor cycling has the potential to be one of the most accessible and effective forms of group exercise.
However, the quality of indoor cycling education and delivery is inconsistent. Many instructors qualify quickly, receive limited follow-up support and are left to work things out alone in complex, high-pressure environments.
The Indoor Cycling Institute exists to bring clarity, continuity and care to indoor cycling education and professional development.

The challenge in indoor cycling education
Poor-quality indoor cycling education doesn’t always look obviously unsafe.
It often shows up as vague instruction, unclear purpose, inappropriate intensity, ineffective warm-ups and cool-downs, or a lack of understanding of how riders respond differently to load and fatigue.
Over time, this affects rider experience, instructor confidence and the reputation of indoor cycling as a whole.
We believe instructors deserve better preparation, clearer guidance and ongoing support that reflects the realities of teaching, not just the requirements of assessment.

An institute, not just a training provider
The Indoor Cycling Institute defines professional expectations for indoor cycling instruction.
Our role is to establish standards of practice, provide guidance and support professional development over time.
Training is delivered through ICI programmes that are designed to meet these standards and to prepare instructors for real-world teaching, not just qualification.
This approach allows education to sit within a broader professional context, rather than existing as a one-off event.
In simple terms:
