It's not necessarily all about the bike. Here are essential elements that every cycling studio should consider to create a memorable member experience.
  1. Create more impact: Your cycling studio's ambiance plays a significant role in creating a unique and unforgettable experience. Use your studio space creatively, capitalize on any unique architectural features, and consider installing panoramic windows to capture beautiful scenery.
  2. Create an experience: In today's fitness industry, it's not enough to offer just a class; it's crucial to provide an unforgettable experience that members will want to share with their friends. To achieve this, focus on storytelling instead of selling a product, engage passionate instructors, and surprise your participants in every class. In today's fitness industry, it's not enough to offer just a class; it's crucial to provide an unforgettable experience that members will want to share with their friends. To achieve this, focus on storytelling instead of selling a product, engage passionate instructors, and surprise your participants in every class.
  3. Focus on quality: While creating a memorable experience is important, it's equally vital to deliver a high-quality product that delivers results. Use high-quality equipment that feels premium, minimize distractions, and create a sense of competition among participants to push themselves further. Think branded kit, towels, sustainable water bottles - there are ways of improving the quality without going all in with the bikes (although you can do this too!)
  4. Quality means quality instructors: There's no point in investing in the gear if your instructors still have no idea. Make sure they're all trained to a high standard with a reputable certificate. If they're not comfortable setting up riders effectively on the bike, designing and delivering sessions with a good understanding of cadence and intensity - get them onto some good solid entry-level indoor cycling instructor training. If you invest in bikes with power meters, this is often bumps up the price of the bike hugely, so make sure your instructors are comfortable with instructing with power. Most aren't.
  5. Optimise sound quality: Clear audio is vital for every group cycling class. Invest in a quality audio system that delivers clear sound and incorporates features to reduce sound disturbances. All instructors should use mics and be able to adjust the volume of the music from the instructor bike. Speakers should provide a clear, balance sound, and instructors avoid music that has uncomfortable gaps.
  6. Create an immersive experience: To avoid monotony and keep riders motivated, mix up the studio's lighting and use video projections to immerse participants in the journey their instructor is taking them on. Use high quality tech such as Intelligent Cycling which pulls together great visuals, session design, and motivaitonal metrics such as power or heartrate to ride together.
  7. Incorporate technology: Technology can enhance the group cycling experience significantly. Use wearable devices and mobile applications to track and analyze your members' progress and provide personalized feedback.Again - Intelligent Cycling enables riders to wear a variety of devices such as MyZone, Garmin or Polar and still be able to join in.
  8. Build a community: A sense of community can keep members motivated and engaged. Encourage socialisation by hosting post-workout social events, group challenges, and team-building exercises.
In summary, creating a memorable member experience in group cycling classes requires attention to detail, a focus on quality, and creativity in design and ambiance. By incorporating these elements, you can ensure that your cycling studio stands out from the crowd and provides a share-worthy experience that members will never forget.

What did we miss? What else would you suggest sets a rockstar studio apart from an average one?
